Artist Review

Take a look at what artist are saying about the Rtistx product line.

Our products are used in place of watercolor paper (no dry mount required, no glass), sanded paper (no matt required but can be matted, no dry mount), canvas (no stretching and tearing), clay emulsion (no ghosts), Boards (ours are light weight easy to cut), color pencil paper (all the above).

Mary Ann Boysen

RTX420/Watercolor

"I loved working on the board, It is very forgiving. I personally love this surface because it feels like velvet when you are brushing across it with a loaded brush, It has great "lifting" qualities too."

Diane Perry

RTX420/Watercolor

"I've finished an 8 x 10 watercolor (see attachment) on one of your watercolor boards and I love it.  I really like how long the surface stays damp and how smooth the washes come out.  I had a much easier time painting on this surface than another company's watercolor board I've tried in the past.  My next project is going to be on the 16 x 20 w/c board.  Thanks for a great product...I'm sold!"

RTX240/Pastel

I cannot praise your panels enough. They are better than any other I've worked on, the other pastelists tried them and were also impressed. I was able to paint in Monet's garden on the spot. I worked on your 8x10 panels, these were easy to pack up."

Ellen Dreibelbis

RTX240/OIL

"I really Loved them! The surface was so inviting I had a hard time deciding whether to do an oil or pastel. I drew the under drawing in charcoal and found that it erased cleanly (something that doesn't happen with some of the other sanded surfaces). I have never used a sanded surface for oils but found it worked fine. I use synthetic brushes (Robert Simmons Titaniums) as I use water soluble oils. The surface held up just fine in water, by the way, no buckling or change of texture. I just loved the thickness of the board - Light but sturdy enough to use alone on an easel without backing. Also loved the grey color! Beautiful. The painting I did was of a small Tibetan child and the grey worked well with the skin tones and as a light background color. I would be happy to recommend this quality product to other artists."

Gary Schira

RTX280/OIL

"This product is unlike anything I have ever painted on. My colors blend so softly and come out so vibrantly it is unbelievable. I can get crisp detail on my paintings that I cannot get on canvas without layers and layers of gesso. I also love the way my paintings glow under light! The quality of my work and prints have tremendously improved because of it. With an overall increase in inspiration and total art sales the RTX280 is first choice in my studio. I would highly recommend this superior Oil Panel to any and all artist!"

Holly Bedrosian

RTX280/280/300/Color Pencil

"I just finished another piece using colored pencil on the RTX280 Panel you sent me. The 280 is similar to other sanded surfaces that I have used, but I really like how the thickness of the panel prevents warping, and the surface is so fine. I look forward to trying the other two you sent!"

"Rtistx Pastel Board is the most responsive board I've ever painted on in pastel."

Mark Menedez

Mark Menendez

  RTX300/Color Pencil

"The RTX300 is the sturdiest, most effective archival surface available for color pencil. It offers brilliant color, and limitless layering and burnishing."

"The RTX420 is a wonderful board for both professionals and students. With a few light strokes and half the amount of water, there is a fluid dispersal of pigment like no other. "

"A Little Color for January Blues (Yellow & Purple Viola)
I have been working on your board and I love it."

Walt Kozier

Walt Kozier

Oil painting on the 280 panel. As I had mentioned the surface was more than suitable. I do believe the colors appear brighter and the drying time a little shorter. Although this will always depend on the artist's mixture at the time of application. I used the Maroger Medium in areas that needed blending and a little transparency. Needless to say I think this is not only a proven but the best medium I have come across in over 60 years.

Walt studied under Jacques Maroger.

Jacques Maroger

(1884-1962)

After becoming director of the Laboratory of the Louvre in Paris and president of the Restorers of France, Maroger left for the United States in 1939. Maroger arrived in New York and took a teaching position at the Parsons School of Design.

In 1929, Jacques Maroger was credited as discovering the first oil painting medium of the 15th Century artist Jan van Eyck; the discovery was published in 1931 by the British Academy of Science.

The RTX300 work really well with Colored Pencil.

The study of a close up of a" Snowy Igret" was a good exercise in getting practice
with this type of ground. The image size is 8x10 Inches.
